A family gallery wall ...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE frames... it's really more of an addiction!! I see one and dream of it spray painted and have to have it. I try to fight the urge - but the frame always win! My husband may have noticed the abundance of frames and told me that I need to find away to use some of them before I buy more. I humor him and let him think I listen when he gives me HELPFUL suggestions - but I was totally going to use them DUH!!! :) So thus we created the FAMILY gallery wall... its a great way for our kids to remember some of our family that we don't get to see very much.

Our hallway is super narrow - and that makes it hard to get a shot of the whole wall.

Here are some of my favs... I threw in some older pictures too like this one of me and my brother when we were little. LOVE IT!!

The picture on the top right is of me and my brother and sister with my Grandpa ( my most favorite person on this planet ) he passed away about a month ago and I had these old pictures of us blown up and enhanced as a gift to my brother, sister and dad!!! I smile every time I walk by it - It is good to have such a sweet reminder of how important family is!!!

I made one of these a while ago for my daughters room but it needed an update.. so I thought while I was doing that I could make one for my sons room too!! Once I started I just couldn't stop - they are THAT fun!!

p.s I buy the fabric squares at Joannes for $1.00 a piece - super easy and cheap!!!

Valentines Day Mantel Re do

Couldnt quiet get down with the other mantel.. you know something was just off!! Or everything was off .. ya probably everything!!!
I switched it up a little.. I added this mirror from the thrift store and it was instant betterness!! If you are asking yourself if that is a word.. the answer is YES!!! I spray painted some cute doves ... and it was LOVE!!! So there you have it......

...yes maybe!! Valentines day is my FAVORITE.. I love pink and I LOVE hearts!!
I put all the Christmas stuff away - and brought up the V day stuff ..ya know just to check it out and see what I had. Totally no intention of decorating yet (do you believe me ?) - but I got way to excited and just went for it .
I had everything here except the Heart Wreath - I bought that in the dollar spot at Target for $2.50. The little lanterns were bought last year from the dollar store and I just filled the little jars with plastic hearts also from the dollar store.

I changed out some of the prints in the frames - the subway art is from eighteen 25.
The frame with the hearts in it is from Ikea... just added a little scrap book paper and used some glue dots to adhere the foam hearts - those where also from Target last year.

I added a few little heart sticks to our fake plant and these cute little blocks that I got from my swap partner last year.

The glittery Be Mine is from Target.. and I made the wood hearts forever ago.

I love these little shelves.. they are so fun to decorate. Nothing to fancy.. just added some little deer and a little jar filled with mini ornaments.

I filled our candy machine with extra ornaments. My kids are not very fond of this idea!!

and our christmas village ... a lot of the pieces have been broken or lost so it is looking a little sad. Between the 3 year old who thinks this is fun to play with and the cat who likes to play in the snow - its doesn't stand a chance. Almost every single little person in this village is missing an appendige.

I am in LOVE with my mantel right now!! I have had so much fun creating it!!
I made the wreath and glitter trees. The santa blocks were a gift from my mom last year. The candle sticks were picked up at the D.I over several trips.

This project was on my list since LAST year.. I ran out of time, space and energy so I saved it for a must do this year!!! The cute glitter tree was inspired by eighteen25
The white tree was made using some white fabric. I used the same method as I did with the wreath below. It was really easy .. just some fabric and pins.

I found this candy cane wreath here . I knew I had to make this the moment I saw it!! I will tell you a secret.. your fingers will hurt pretty bad after you make one of these. It is so worth it though...

So there it is!! I hope you like it as much as I do!!!

Subway art and bead board...

I have made some pretty awesome things this week that I can't wait to show you... but until then I pulled this out and realized I never showed it to you guys!!
I created this subway art with a scrap piece of bead board, some plexi glass, scrap book paper and vinyl.
The plexi glass came pre cut - its 8X10. I cut the scrap book paper to the same size and used a drill to make little holes in the corners of both the plexi glass and the bead board. Then I used plexi glass screw to attach the two together. Then cut some vinyl and transferred it on to the plexi glass.
It is one of my favorite christmas crafts.. I am thinking about making a few more for christmas gifts this year!!

Silly Turkey

I am refusing to pass up Thanksgiving this year. In years past I have gone straight from Halloween to Christmas- but this year I am holding out!!

I have no idea where I got this idea from!! I had a few images saved of some cute wood turkeys and I just kind of mashed them all together and created this super silly turkey.
I cut all the pieces with my jigsaw.. and painted him with left over craft paint I had. He looks really cute on my front door!!

I found this awesome tutorial from Not Just a Housewife and have wanted to try it out ever since. It was so fun to make.. and I am sure there will be many more to come. These would even make the best Christmas gifts ever... if only I had the time !!

I put it in our TINY entry way.. with some cute scrap book paper and the word family I think it fits in perfectly for thanksgiving!!

We are already listening to Christmas music.. is that twisted? Yes maybe.. but we will do it anyways:) I can't give in to the urge to decorate for Christmas yet- so until I cant stand it anymore here is our Fall/Thanksgiving mantel!!

I made the harvest blocks and wood pumpkins last year. The little glass jar is filled with acorns and all the candle sticks came from the D.I or thrift stores.

I threw together this little leaf banner while waiting for my daughter to wake up from her nap.. not sure how much I like it? What do you think? Maybe I will post a tutorial - or maybe that would be pointless since it was seriously a 5 minute project.

Owl lamp makeover

I was not going to spend $10.00 on this lamp. I walked away from it several times but could not leave it there all alone and sad. My husband actually stepped in (probably because I looked pretty crazy hovering over this thing trying to decide if it was worth it, and freaking out anytime someone came near it ) he politely said "Listen you will be mad if you leave it here .. so just pick it up and pay for it already!!" So I did.. who am I to argue with the man!!

A can of grey spray paint later and here she is..

I snagged a lamp shade at Lowes for $5.00 . I am going to look for some white and yellow damask fabric to recover the lamp shade.

What do you think? Was it worth the $10.00? I have to admit I kinda love it !!

Some master bedroom updates

I struggle with this room... I can't seem to get it right. I think I am finally headed in the right direction though...

I repainted the yellow cedar chest that I posted about here.. do you want to know the sad part... ok I am going to tell you. It started out white - I should have just left it alone. But what fun would that be ? I repainted the headboard also.. it used to be black. I got the sunburst mirror from family dollar for $10.00. It was gold but nothing some silver spray paint wont fix.

My husband and I built these cute little night stand.. maybe someday we will get to building the other one. I am also debating painting this white.. is that too much white?

I got this dresser from the D.I for $15.00 - is was such a score. What a surprise I painted it white!! The frames above the dresser hold printables from Sprik Space and eighteen 25

We held out as long as we could.. enough is enough!!! I don't have a mantel- I wish I did if that counts for anything :) But I love decorating on the shelf above our T.V. I tried to keep it pretty simple.. they only knew thing I bought this year was the pumpkin plate from Target and the crow from the dollar store...

The spooky tree is my kids favorite ... they move the little spooky ornaments around a hundred times. Look how cute the books and little ghost are .. I got those from my swap partner a couple of weeks ago. I have told you before but I will tell you again just for fun - the swaps are a blast!! The pumpkins I made last year.. and did you spy the cute happy halloween banner hanging in the back? Another cute swap gift... I am telling you people sometimes you get the coolest stuff!!

I have had this idea saved for a looooong time.. I found the image at odd girl out - she has seriously inspired me to try new colors and ideas in my home. I love her house and would ask to come move in if I thought my husband could take care of things here with out me :)

Pallet Pumpkin...

I have SO many pallet boards laying around. We live by a big industrial warehouse and I see them almost every time I drive by just leaning up against the dumpsters. I can't just leave them there!!

This pallet pumpkin was super simple to create- I just cut the pallet board to length and used my jigsaw to make the rounded edges so it looked more like a pumpkin shape. I also used my jigsaw to cut the leaf out of a pallet board. After I painted it I thought it needed a little something so I stenciled the little "fall" on there and called it good!!

Here is my little monogram/mini shelves wall..
I kinda adore it :)
I have been working on this space for-eve-r.. I know its small but I struggled with the layout!!

The wire and map letters are from urban outfitters.. I bought them online. They have the coolest stuff.. I have a wish list like a mile long from that place.

The little ornate F is from hobby lobby - gotta love 50% off. The little shelves came from the d.i - I started picking them up because I loved them but had no idea what I was going to do with them. This is one of those times that I was glad I bought on impulse instead of thinking it through - otherwise my wall would be so sad with out my mini shelf friends!!

Painting laminate furniture...

is a pain in the bum!! Seriously - like a HUGE pain in the bum!! I was so PUMPED after I saw this post- and I thought heck yes I can totally do that!! It was so much harder then I thought.. but it was worth it!! I think?
I painted it a week ago and so far its held up - but its only been a week!!
Here is a before - Like WAY before pic.. when Christmas threw up all over my house. Sorry I am super good at remembering to take before pictures.. I will work on that - pinky swear!!

I spray painted them white and found this cute fabric from Joannes. I was really excited to find this print in tablecloth fabric. It is super easy to wipe off when the kids spill....

We have had this dresser for a while in my daughters room. I have always been a little bugged by the drawers- you can see everything inside and I have a little one who likes to go through her clothes and throw them back in with out folding. I don't blame her- folding is the worst!!! I have wanted to use some fancy duck tape on something and this was the perfect place...

Ta- Da... so much better!! Love it!! This would be so cute on just about any piece of furniture you could find!!

So not so much new.. but new to me :)
I found this baby at the D.I for $25.00- I actually had a very hard time letting myself buy it for that price!! My husband convinced me that it was a very solid piece and wouldn't need much work to restore it to it's awesomeness.. so I went for it!! Good job babe.. you were totally right!! Sure wish I would have been patient enough to take a before photo.. ugh oh well!!
SO here she is

I am still trying to figure out how to decorate the top. and I am so in love with all the storage space this offers!!

Our teacher gifts

I thought it would be fun to give my son's teachers something they could use this summer to relax and enjoy themselves- they so deserve it!! They have seriously been amazing and have helped make such a transformation in my son!! I knew I had to do something special for them.. I have a really good friend that has a daughter in the same class and she and I got together and came up with this idea. We found the little beach chair, towel and margarita glass at Walmart. We threw in a gift certificate to Discovery Gateway ( children's museum) and a gift card to Texas Roadhouse( yummy steak place) and a little tag that says" You deserve to kick back and relax this summer!!"
I am so excited to give these out!!!

When I saw this ADORABLE idea from Tiffany over at Making the World Cuter I about died. I knew I had to have one.. like immediately!!!
Here is how it turned out...

I am in LOVE!! I drew the stick figures.. I used a lot of help from google images. Then I scanned it into my computer and played around with it in photoshop. I am thinking these would be the cutest gifts... who wouldn't love one? !!
I sent it to Canvas People and was so stoked to get it in the mail today :)

I am in LOVE with my new gallery shelves.. I want to marry them!! They cost me a whole $5.00 to make and that makes me giddy!! I found the plans here
Most of my frames are from the dollar store.. I had to do a lot of spray painting but it was totally worth it!!

I love this subway art from eighteen 25 so I had it printed off at Costco and put it smack dab in the center of the whole mess!!

I had to show you a picture of some of my most favorite people .. and the reason why I want to display all my fun photos!! I may be a little bias .. but those are some seriously cute kids :)

Boys room wall art....

I am so stoked about how these turned out!! I am so glad to be finished with this wall art. I tried so many different ideas and just could not get down with the way it looked. I was at a dead end until I thought up these guys! These were surprisingly easy to make..

I used some spare plywood and cut it into 12X12 pieces... I wanted it to look like a canvas with the wider sides.. so I cut some 1X2's and nailed them to the plywood. I just googled die cut stickers and found some cool motorcycle and four wheeler images. I cut them out with my cricut and used that as a stencil.Then sanded it down a little - which is a nice way to hide all the mistakes I made when painting- trust me there are ALOT!! In fact.. as I am looking over these pictures I am noticing that I left a little green paint on the side of one of these boxes... not even sure how it got there!! You might be surprised where I find paint after I finish some of these projects!!!

TADA!! I am in LOVE :) I had enough left over to make one more that is a little bit bigger in size- I have a cool idea for mothers day .. hopefully I will finish it before the day comes and goes!! I am doing great at starting projects but not so good on the follow through and finish part!!

Easy circle pillow

I found this cute bedding for our son at Ikea.. I love it!!! I wanted to make a cute little pillow to match... so i took this pillow he got for last Easter. I wish I would have taken a picture.. I was to excited !! I took some white fabric and sewed a cover. Then I took some left over green paint from another project ( I will show you later - IT IS SOOOOO COOL!!) I used a little plastic cup to create the circles.. just dipped the rim into the paint and stamped in onto the cover. DONE!!!

This idea came from the cutest head board at House*Tweaking!!
When I saw this idea I knew it would look perfect in our new ..black,grey and yellow bedroom. I knew I did not want to try and paint pallet wood- I have done this before and it is a little tricky. So I searched for a pallet that already had a grey tone to it!! I found this one on the side of the road. I just ripped the pallet apart... with my husbands help. Some of those nails are not messing around.. it took some serious muscle!! I sanded the board down a little.. I didn't want to take the finish off but I didn't want to worry about splinters. Then I nailed them all together and painted the love on the front.. It was such an easy project and it makes such a huge statement.

I thought this wall art might even be cute to use in a kids room with there names instead. Or in a kitchen with the word eat, or the laundry room with the word wash &dry or something laundryish..SO MANY IDEAS!!!

Finish Pillows - Check

I had these little throw pillows that I wanted to recover for our bed..
I bought the fabric for them from Walmart.. I will go to Joannes someday and look at fabric and I am sure I will ask myself why I ever bought it from Walmart! But for now this will do :

This one is my fav!!! I just hot glued the rosette to the front of the pillow!! SO EASY!!!

I love this zebra print pillow.. I just added some lace to the front!!!

Master Bedroom RE-redo

Yep.. I know I just re did my master bedroom in green and orange.. this is a fact not lost on my husband either!! When I paint something and say I love it he says" I am going to grab my timer and see how long this one lasts!!" Thanks for the vote of faith but dangit if he isn't totally right!! Good thing he loves me so much - I remind him all the time how great I am!! :)

Don't be jealous of my high quality picture taking skills- it takes a lot of work to get your camera to take pictures on the setting I use. Here is what you do : Give your camera to your 3 year old let them drop it atleast 100 times then take it to the beach and roll it around in the sand. TA -DA - you will now have the best grainy shadowy looking pictures you could ever dream of. Yep - your welcome:)

It all started with this grey color - I could eat it if it wasn't toxic. My husband says he likes it because it reminds him of his car-reconstructing days when they would prime and paint all there cars. Should it worry me that when he saw it he said .. you did a really good job priming but what color is it going to be?

Here is our new bedding- super plain right now but It wont stay that way!! Wait until you see the funky lunky fabric I have picked out to upholster that headboard. I also have a few throw pillows that I am going to recover in some yummy yellow fabric.

Here are my wall ledge shelves.. I wipped these up all by myself!! But you can totally tell- I am good at the finishing work but not so much the building part. The fun I LOVE US printable was snagged from eighteen 25. I have another cute one ordered for the other frame.. I just have to get off my butt and go pick it up.

Our new black curtains that I got for$ 6.25 from Walmart!! I would tell you to not pay attention to the wrinked throw blanket at the end of my bed.. but I am sure you already noticed it!! My kids are convinced that my bed is a trampoline.. until I can talk them out of that idea wrinkled it will stay!!

IF this armoire could talk it would tell you " Tell this crazy lady to stop painting me!!" No lie .. I have painted it ALOT!!! I think it will stay this way .. for a little while!! The sign up on top is our wedding date!! I took pictures of random numbers and printed them out!! So fun and I am copying this idea for a wedding gift .. so I will post more about it later!!!

My spring mantel.. ish

Here is my Spring mantel- not really a mantel but it works!!
I kept it pretty simple.. I didn't want to worry about taking it all down and starting over after Easter is over so I tried to stick with decor that could stay until Spring is over.

Here are my fav little jars.. they are so fun!! I love finding cute things to fill them with!! I just shoved some easter basket grass in the bottom and a beaded egg on top and it doesn't get much easier then that!!

This is the first time I have printed subway art from eighteen 25 and I am pretty sad that I didn't catch on sooner ... look at how cute it is!!
Please don't judge the beautiful subway art because of my horrible camera.. its not her fault!!

I made this fun art collage for my sons room.. I love that we can just switch out the art in the frames for a new look!! Sorry about the very blurry pics..

This is one of my most favorite pictures from him.. this is a picture he did of himself in the sunshine!!

Some of these are printables and some more art from my son..

When I saw this printable I knew it was meant to be in my sons room.. since he was a baby he would tell me "love you to the moon and back" - plus the little monsters in the basket look like they would fit in well with my monster!!

So I have a magor decision making problem- or maybe I am just a women and that comes with the territory.. but I have already changed things around since my last post...
If you remember my previous post - I had shown you my picture ledge that I made for her room.. well I took it down and did this instead....

I made the banner out of some scrap fabric - I actually go through my kids closet and if they have anything that is to small but still in good shape then i save it to cute up later... most of this fabric was from some little sundresses that my little stinker has grown out of it.. the others I bought really cheap at Walmart.
I love that we were able to find a cheap tv mount at IKEA- it cleared a lot of room to have it hung on the wall. But do you know what I don't like so much - the cords hanging out under the t.v and the huge honkin dvd player just sitting on the shelf- still workin on this !!!
The storage units are AMAZING!! Seriously.. half of those bins are empty I am so excited that we have so much room to hide her stuff :)We got them from IKEA- I was really surprised at how reasonable they were - the storage towers were 64.99- and that includes the bins!!! I can't remember how much the center unit was - we bought that like 2 years ago..

I knew I wanted to hang this old window somewhere in her room.. I kept it empty for a while because I just had no idea what to do with it.. Then I stumbled across this freaking amazing blog that gives you free art that you can download. I just printed them out at Costco.. seriously people go check it out.. you will love all the cute little prints they have!! I freaked out an ordered way to many and now I have no idea what to do with all of them :)

Here is her little bed.. guess where its from ? If you guessed IKEA then you are so smart:) And guess where the bedding, bed canopy,nightstand and flower light came from? Did you guess IKEA again? You are so GOOD!! I can't help it ok - they are so cheap there!! It's such a nasty trick- everything is so cheap there that you convince yourself you need way more then you NEED!!
The bed was only $30.00 and the light was $10.00, the nightstand was $25.00 and the canopy was $20.00!!
Not sure why I am telling you guys the price of everything- maybe I need you guys to help me justify what I spent!! I need you to enable my shopping habit and tell me I got such a good deal!!! :) By the way you guys are the coolest!!!

We are gonna trap ourselves some Leprechauns....

So here is our little surprise for our little leprechaun friends... I am not sure how I am going to break it to my son that we will not actually trap any of the little guys - he is dead set that he is going to catch one and take it to school tomorrow!! Should be an interesting discovery for him in the morning!!

So just so you all know how "on the ball" I am .. I have been so EXCITED about this idea for weeks. I totally spaced it until tonight when we were walking around Costco and I saw a bin of empty boxes .. and I suddenly remembered - so I snagged a few!!
So because I am so good at planning this out... I forgot to buy gold coins to leave for the leprechauns- so if you look really close you can see my lame excuse with circles cut out of gold paper!! I just told my kids we were being sneaky like the leprechauns.. and only pretending to leave them real coins- good thinking huh!! They thought I was pretty clever for that one!! And as long as I can fool them then that's really all that matters -right?

3. I love to have dance parties with my kids.. I turn on the Disney radio channel and we rock out with our sweet dance moves! Hey I have to squeeze in a work out wherever I can get it..

4.So I have to admit that most of the music we listen to during our dance parties is Justin Bieber- we do have some serious BIEBER FEVER in my house!!!

5.I love Diet Coke.. I can't do anything in the morning until I have one in my hand. I used to think my mom was so crazy for drinking them all the time but I have developed her habit!!

6. I am a junk food eater- I LOVE candy, and chips, and cookies and really anything that's not good for me.. I wish I wanted to eat healthier- I have all these really great intentions but I am horrible at following through!!

7. I love crafting.. well duh huh!! I love to look at pictures of some of the things I made when I first started- boy have I come a long way lol!! It has been such a great release for me and I love all the fun friends I have made since I started this blog!!

My husband is awesome and bought me these cute LUCK letters for Valentines Day... so cute!! They inspired my St.Patricks Day mantel....

So here is a run down- just incase you are interested:) You might notice the jars - they used to be black, I have a problem leaving anything alone for to long - so I decided to repaint them white!! I Love them!!! Do you like my little 4-leaf clover topiary... I will post about those later!!! I made a little lucky sign for the wreath hanger and that was about it.. green is a popular color in my house so it was very easy and fun to mix everything in,,,

1. What did you get/give for Valentine's Day?
I got the cutest st.pattys day craft from my husband ( he knows anything from quilted bear will make me happy) my kids gave me a yummy candle and a new soap dispenser- they did such a good job of listening to my hints:)
We gave the kids a small toy and some of there fav candies. We gave my mother and MIL some handmade body scrub and an assortment of there favorite candies. I was pretty laid back this year- I honestly put very little effort into any of the gifts we gave. Are you ready to think I am the worst wife ever.. yep guess what I gave my husband.. a big fat NOTHING!! I know I am so bad.. he only wants things you can buy online.. so I told him to go order a new part for his r.c car or something!!
2. Do you have a vacation planned in the next couple of months or in the summer?
The only vacation we go on every year is to Lake Powell- my husbands Uncle owns the marina so we take several boats out and hang out on the beach for a few days!! I am so excited for this year- the kids are a little bit older and I think they are going to have a BLAST!!!
3. What is one thing you do to pamper yourself?
I love to grab a glass of wine and run a nice, HOT bubble bath!!! My husband does a good job of keeping the kids out of the bathroom so I can relax!!!
4. What sparks your interest to other people's blogs?
I love creativity!! I love when I stumble across a new blog with all kinds of fun ideas!!
5. What kind of a mood are you in today?
Hopeful!! We have had a rough few weeks with my son.. he is struggling with the "keep your hands to yourself " rule at school- I am HOPING that we have drilled it into that little head of his enough that he will have an AWESOME day tomorrow :)

I was at the dollar store.. and saw these cute little pots!! They were in the wedding section and I may or may not have bought all they had lol!! I found the heart picks at the dollar store too.. I actually got them for a different project that I will show you later but I had three left- it was meant to be :) I grabbed some floral foam and went to work...
I just shoved the picks into the floral foam .. then used some left over tuelle to cover up the floral foam!!
I used my cricut to print out the letters .. and thats it!!!

My 11 goals for 2011

- I am a little early on the party it doesn't start until tonight!!I saw this fun party at The House Creative and thought I would give it a shot!! I hope I can come up with 11 , here we go :
1. I want to FORGIVE.. that is a big one for me.. 2010 was great but it was filled with a lot of pain for me too!! I want to find a way to let go of some of that and just MOVE ON ...
2. I want to be more patient.. this is a goal I wake up with almost every morning but by mid-day I have given up on it lol!
3. I want to yell less.. sometimes I hear myself and I am so embarrased. I set this goal for myself awhile ago.. and have done so much better since. But there more room for improvement.
4. I want to save more and spend less!! This is one we decided to work on last year when we were listing our resolutions.. and I am happy to say we have stuck with it!! For the most part:)
5. I want to get more comfortable cooking for my family. Well I should say I want to learn to like cooking ... I have gone out of my comfort zone and tried a few things in this awesome cookbook that I found!! I was pretty proud of myself when everything turned out edible!! :)
6. LESS TV. This is a big one.. we are a tv loving family. I have started to limit our time in front of the tv and use that time to learn and make memories with my kids.
7.I want to stress less about my son and just enjoy him!! I am always worried about whether he is getting what he needs and if I am doing a good enough job. As he would say" I need to take a chill pill."
8.I want to learn how to sew... I have been on the look out for any really easy tutorials.. I mean EASY!!! I just got a cute little sewing machine for Christmas and I am SO determined to put it to good use.
9. I want to do a better job of letting the people who are important to me know that they are. I always think man I should let them know how thankful I am for what they do.. but then life happens and that moment just passes me by. I do have SO many amazing and supportive people in my life and I need to make sure they know it!!
10.I hope in this next year to make the decision on whether or not I want more little munchkins. There are times that I want one more.. I crave a baby.. I yearn for that little baby smell and I am so sure that we have to have another baby. But then I look at the 2 beautiful kids I have and I am content.. It feels so well balanced and I am terrified that I will overwhelm myself with another one. I will tell you that I was so scared when my daughter was born.. the first time I took the 2 of them to the store alone .. I attempted to get them both out of the car.. got so frustrated.. buckled them both in .. then called my mom and cried my eyes out!! I was sure that there was no way I could handle two living creatures that were going to look to me for everything that they needed to survive. I WAS SO OVER WHELMED!!! It seems so silly now.. because I have learned how to balance the 2 of them... plus there is 2 of us.. its an equal playing field.. I am scared for them to out number us lol!!!
11. Just be more happy and healthy.. I have a strong addiction to my best friend
Mr. Rockstar. I am convinced I can't make it through my day , or through work with out it!!! Now I am not saying I want to let my best buddy go... but maybe if I started eating healthier and tried to stress less I wouldn't need so much JUICE to get me going :) I can hope right?!!

So here is my big idea.. if I focus on #1 and #11 - which is if I learn to forgive and let go .. and start being a healthier person then I will be happier and more patient(#2).. giving me more patient to waste on learning to cook (#5) therefor saving money on eating out (#4) I will feel so good about myself after my new found patience that I will be to happy to yell anymore (#3) and then I would enjoy my kids so much that I would decide I had it all figured out and want another one right away (#10) and we will be way to busy with a new addition that we won't have time to watch tv(#6) and I will have so much time to learn how to sew.. (#8) and I will make so many cute things for the people I care about .. and everyone will know how much I love and appreciate them with my handmade gifts(#9).. geez that sounds like alot of work.. makes me want a ROCKSTAR.. lol!! Hey you can't win them all right :)

TO HAVE YOU GUYS!! Seriously!! You guys are all so amazing!! I was in tears reading your comments to my post about my son.. I was moved by your honestly and your ability to step out side your own lives and relate to ME!!
I wish I could honestly tell you how much better it made me feel.. I thought back on it and almost regretted posting something so personal!! I hate admitting that I don't have everything under control.. but all of you have shown me that it is ok to struggle. And seriously.. when I am having a down day I will read these comments OVER AND OVER and know that it is not just me and it is not just him.
I was alarmed to hear how many of you were told the same things about your own children or even about yourselves.. and I am glad to hear that I am not alone in fighting against others opinions and trying my hardest to do whats best for my child. Thank you for helping me beleive in myself to do right thing!!
We have been doing so much better.. I think it helped to clear my head and release some of that stress by writing about it. It gave me a chance to take a step back and decide how we could approach him in a better way!! If I stay calm.. and patient then he deals with things so much better too!!!
My mom knew how much I have been struggling and she saw a segment on Dr. Phil.. I can't ever decide how I feel about that man lol. My mother is my biggest supporter.. she is always telling me that my son is perfect and raving about what a good mother I am to anyone who will listen.. she has listened to me countless times cry in frustration .. I beg her for answers... and I look to her to tell me that I am doing an ok job!! Anyways.. back to Dr. Phil(can you tell how much I love my mom yet:)) - he recently had a segment with a family that reminded my mother a lot of mine and she recommended that we try the book by the counselor who had been on the show. The book is called "Your not the boss of me" by Betsy Brown Braun. I bought it.. I normally would not do this kind of thing... again the struggle to admit I don't have control.. but I thought what can it hurt.. Uh.. it hurt nothing..because IT IS AMAZING!!There are so many great things in this book!! Things I never. ever. EVER thought about trying. I tried today to incorporate some of things I have read and it made a HUGE difference .. and I haven't even finished the first chapter yet!! My husband said he would read the first chapter and see what it was about.. and he loves it too.. he is even farther in the book then I am(but I was busy getting my son to get his homework dons so I deserve some points for that too lol)!!I just wanted to pass that along.. I felt like I needed to offer something after all the amazing advice and input that you guys gave me!!

I am struggling...

This has nothing to do with crafts.. but I am really struggling with something and I am hoping that writing it down might help me understand it.. or even just get it out.
I feel like the WORST mom.. I struggle with feeling like I am doing a good enough job every day - what mom doesn't? right? but it is starting to take over my whole life.
My son is 6 .. and I feel like I have FAILED him. Because as a mom it is your job to make these little creatures into respectful, successful adults- and when they act naughty everyone looks to you like "what did you do wrong?" And I am always feeling like "what did I do wrong?" Now I know that most of you are thinking I am way to hard on myself and my son.. but I have been told since he was two by strangers, friends and family that he is out control.I have been asked if he has ADD? I have been told he needs more structure, that he is a very frustrated and angry child.
Everyone tells you how wonderful having children is, that you will love them more then you can say, that it will change you and be the most amazing experience of your life!! And all that is totally true.. but what they don't tell you is how much you will battle yourself, question yourself, and wonder everyday if you are doing the right thing!!
I am not the kind of person who was just born to be a mom.. I love my kids with every thing inside me .. but I am not naturally patient or understanding. I have to fake the patience, and bite my tongue when my son yells horrible to me.
I guess I just need to hear that it will get easier.. that if I keep doing the right thing he will be ok!! That if I love him enough and try hard enough that he will start making the right choices on his own.
Tonight all I can do is beg for the strength to do it all over again tomorrow!!!

I am so excited to show you guys this.. I told you about the cute one that I had to copy in my previous post.. well here is mine!! I got the cabinet from the D.I for $5.00 and used some sample paint from Lowes!! I love how it turned out!! Our tree is all red green and white this year.

I love our stockings.. my husbands grandma made them for us.

I decided to try something different for my Christmas subway art.. I attached vinyl to a peice of plexi glass then attached the plexi glass to beadboard and slipped a peice of scrap book paper between the two. I made several for Christmas presents also- they were really fun to make!!!

So me and my girl Kylee got together and made these cute little countdowns for Halloween . They were pretty simple but so time consuming..
They are just cookie sheets that we modge podged with scrap book paper. Then we used all kinds of things for magnets... buttons, cute little brads we found at Ben Franklin, skeleton hands, and glass beads with paper on the back. My kids love picking a new magnet to put on every day. We are planning on making one for Thanksgiving and Christmas too!! Can't wait :)

My fantel- fall mantel!! I do not have a fireplace - I WISH!!! So this little shelf above my tv will work for now!!! I am still working with this and keep moving stuff around so I will show you a picture once I finish a few things up!!!!

Here is my spooky little witch.. I got the idea from Make&Take- but changed mine up a bit. I could not find cute hair for her so I just used yarn and added some little spiders to her piggy tails. I think she is adorable ;)

I love love love the subway art right now!! I would make one for every room in my house if it wouldn't look tacky:) Is there such thing as too much subway art.. nope I don't think so!!
This was a little bit more difficult then most that I have made because I used vinyl to stencil so I could get all the fun halloween colors on there- way cheaper then buying all these colors in vinyl- and I love the look of stenciling!!!
I just cut a peice of MDF to the size I wanted and painted in orange then I painted white over that and sanded and stained and went to town!!

We have made the Tryde Entry way table, the Land of Nod Bunk Bed,a set of Grace's bookcases,a set of wall book holders, the Cameron storage end table,2 lap top tables, the Rustic Children's Media Hutch ( which she even featured on her website- How cool is that? if you want to check it out here is the link :Knock off Wood Media Hutch - and I have several picture of some of our finished furniture in my labels section under knock off wood.
And here is our latest Knock off wood project: The Armoire!!!

I love love love building her furniture and we could have gone and bought an armoire but the pride you have when you get to show off something you made with your bare hands is so fun!!!

Here is a picture f the bunk beds that we made for my sons room.... we get so many compliments on these!!!! They were by far the most difficult and time consuming but so so so worth it.. you can even see the little cameron bookcase that we built peaking out behind the door:

Toady my son turned 6 ... lets not talk about how sad I am that he is getting so big!! I have held in the tears so far..
I made these cute cupcake stands for his cupcakes - super easy!!
I just used a 4X4 for the stand... and a 1x12 for the top. You just cut the boards to the size you want and nail them together - then paint them some cute color !!!
I love them!!!

Here are the fun little cupcakes.. he is having a pool party and I think these will fit in perfectly!! They were so fun and also so easy!! Hope they taste good too!!!!

fireworks and giveaway update

These fireworks were really easy to make. I bought a cedar plank in the outdoors department at lowes.. they were with the fence materials and they were already pretreated- which made it a little more difficult to paint but the whole peice was only 2.00 and I have made 4 sets out of one peice so far. Just paint and embellish - I used wire on the top and ribbon .. and some cute little stars I got from roberts with buttons on top of them!! I think they are so fun :)
And I am working on the item for the giveaway .. I will post it as soon as I am done!!

It's true ... I over think EVERYTHING....which is why the art work for the bathroom that I made yesterday just was not going to cut it.. it was super cute but every time I walked in and looked at it I just thought this is not quite right... and I saw this idea a long time ago that I have been dying to try- so I flipped the mdf over and did this instead....
Super easy.. just painted it white and cut circles out of scrap book paper... I did not worry about cutting them all exactly alike that is part of the fun... it looks better with them off a bit- then I modge podged them on and drew circles around the scrap book paper with marker- again the more off it is the better!!! Forgive me whoever came up with this amazing idea... I can't remember who it was but you are awesome!!!

I am in LOVE with this... this is how I have to feel about something in order for it to stick around!!

I had some extra paper that I did not use so I lined the inside of my bathroom cabinet with it... now I don't have to worry about trying to make my toilet paper and cotton balls pretty.. this idea was super easy too and I think it makes it look so much better!!!! What do you think of the new artwork... do you think the old one was better? Let me Know!!!!????

Cute mothers day blocks....

Yes I know mothers day is still awhile away - but when have you known me to wait or be patient!! Not going to happen :) So this is one project that I wanted to try and I have another idea with some blocks and pictures modge podged on them for another mothers day present I want to make- can't wait to try it!!
These were really fun and you could make one for any season or reason :) If you are interested in them email me @thefaverofour@gmail.com- my computer is having a hard time with etsy- I have had several people not be able to get it to work so they had to email me instead.. so just to be safe just email me!!!
They are 2X6 boards with knobs on top - the one is stained and the other is painted- these ones I am giving away as gifts so if you want one with your choice of colors let me know!!

And I had to throw these in there too.. I can't remember where I found them :( sorry whoever thought this cute idea up= please let me know if it looks familiar!!
I just used some spare wood pieces I had .. I think it is a little different then the blocks I usually make so I love it!!!

My SIL Chelsey came over to craft with me and we made these super cute Spring blocks - I am making mine to go on the backside of the Easter blocks. We are excited to get started on our next set. It is so much fun to have someone to craft with :) We made these blocks the same as my Easter blocks in the previous post - we used vinyl as a stencil and painted fun spring colors around all the edges.

I have seen these chicks on a couple of my favorite site and decided to give it a try. I cut them out all by myself - Chance is very impressed with my cutting skills but I think he is really just happy that he doesn't have to help me anymore!!!

And this is the super cute wedding gift that me and Chels came up with for a family friend. The frame is from Micheals -$4.00. We had so much fun with this - I think they could work for just about anything. I am thinking cute baby shower gifts? Once we were finished painting and adding vinyl we both thought it needed something else - so I made this cute little flower to match the colors in there new house. I hope they like it - if not I might just steal it back !!

So a couple of hours ago I was looking through one of my favorite craft sites Craftify It and she posted these to die for blocks that I was instantly in love with . I could not wait a single minute to make these - even though this will be the 4th set (yes 4 people) that I have made in the last week- I told you addiction. You will know why I had to have them when you check out this picture at Crafty Goodness. Did you look? Are they not the cutest thing - I know right?! Take a look at all her other crafting goodies- I am in craft love:) Mine are no where as good as hers - but I love them so much!!
I just used random peices of 2X4 and a small peice of 1x3 I did not have a color even close to that cute color they used - so I printed off the letters on my Cricut and used that as a stencil and painted the letters on with Turquoise paint. I dabbed the sides with pink,turquoise and black paint. I love that I did not have to sand or stain these ones. I am all sanded out right now. I painted the little block turquoise and dabbed the sides of that with the pink,white and black paint as well. Then printed out the letters on my Cricut in my fav font - Mandingo!!
These have already found a new home in my house. Now I have to get started on the million other projects I found on there blog!!!

I was so happy to be an inspiration - I LOVE BEING COPIED!!! I am seriously pretty excited about it :) I am glad they deemed my idea good enough!! Thanks girls:)

I am having a blast with my husband and our new furniture building addiction. It is so cool to see something that you would love to have in your home and then make it - but for so much cheaper - of course!!
I have found myself checking out furniture I see at the stores and trying to figure out how it is made. I have so many ideas and projects - it is getting to be a little bit overwhelming!! I guess we better get to work huh?!

I wanted to share some of the projects we have found from Ana's blog Knock Off Wood- I am warning you now - you will be hooked!!
This is our favorite and most complicated project so far... but I love love love the way it turned out. It has so much storage!!! I would have never dreamed of having white furniture for my son's room but I love how clean it looks(now if it will stay that way is a whole other story)This piece is called the Thomas Media Wall Hutch in Ana's plans.

This is the Cameron Cubby Wall Unit - but we altered it to make a nightstand with storage. This one was super easy!!

I love these - they work so great for organizing books. This was by far the easiest piece to make - great first time project!!! My kids love these and I have noticed them reading more because there books are so much easier to get to !!

I have wanted a nice piece of furniture for my son's room for a long time - but refused to spend hundreds of dollars on one. Then came this amazing site - I am obsessed with Knock off wood. This is the 3rd project I have completed from her plans (SO FAR). We made a set of bookshelves, and entry table (earlier post) and this TV hutch. It cost us about 100.00 in supplies and 2 hours of work. So worth it... I am in love with it. I can't wait to paint it and decorate it. I know that making your own furniture can seem so intimidating , I was terrified at the thought of spending so much money and then totally goofing it up, But it is so rewarding when you finish a piece and I know I will smile every time I see these things in my home because I had a hand in making them beautiful. I would encourage anyone to try one of her plans - she has a lot of easy furniture you can start with.

I am taking my time on this project because this will probably be the last one we build for awhile - we have to save every penny. We are trying to find a home closer to my family - so everything else has to be put on hold!! But I am so excited!!!!

I am considering moving both my children into one room and turning the other bedroom into a play room. My only major hang up is that I have NO idea how to mesh a room for both a boy and a girl? My little girls room is so pink and frilly and my son's room is blue and black and motorcycle themed- do you see my dilemma?! How do I decorate one space that can serve both a girl and a boy and not have it look like color chaos. If any of you have attempted this and have any good ideas or pictures that I may be able to get some ideas from I would much appreciate it ... I am completely lost here. Thanks for your help:)

I made a few of these as birthday gifts, they are so fun and so easy to make!! I just used a 1x6 - they are pretty cheap at home depot or lowes. I just painted it and printed out the vinyl lettering for the numbers and lettering on the top. I used scrap book paper and some buttons to make the numbers stand out. Then I sanded and stained it - and added some cute stars from Roberts. The inch marks I painted on but you can also just use a sharpie - which is way easier. Then I hung it with craft wire and tied some tulle and ribbon on. Way easy!! I love them and can't wait for more birthdays so I can make some more:)

Our first furniture project...Finally Finished

I can't believe its done!! I am so excited about this... I made it for my Aunt and I hope she likes it!! It did not take Chance and I very long to build it - only about 2 hours of work. The plans for this table were so easy to follow and I can't wait to get started on the mile long list I have for other furniture projects!! We found the plans on www.knockoffwood.blogspot.com

Once it was finished I caulked all the edges with smooth paintable caulk and then painted it. I distressed the edges and then rubbed stain over the sanded areas. It still needs a couple of coats of poly so it won't scratch. But I couldn't wait to post the pictures!! What do you think Aunt Julie?

I had to fix them .. they were bugging and I couldn't give them away like that!! I like them much more now....

Chances are you have already seen these everywhere in blogland... they are from the dollar spot at target. They are very fun to decorate!! I wanted something fun to give a few of our friends .. we made a ton of them and they worked out great!! I just filled them with some of there favorite candy- so easy:)

I decided this year instead of giving candy I would use some of the spare wood we have pilling up in the garage to make some cute crafts instead!! Hopefully they will like them as much as they would candy... they were super easy to make!! I love cheap crafts!!

The Be Mine blocks are made from 2X4's they are about 3.00 a piece and you can make a whole bunch with one piece. They look different when they are set out but I wrapped them before I took the picture !!
The stackable blocks are made from 2X2's and you can buy a board at lowes for about a 1.00 that will make 4 sets of these!! And I have found the cutest ideas with these - they can match any season or holiday!!

I love Valentines Day!! Well I love hearts - I have been obsessed with hearts since I was little - I love love love hearts!!! So Valentines Day just gives me an excuse to put them everywhere!!!
I made a few Valentines things - I am going to make a few more to give to my mom and mother in law and a few of our neighbors.
I saw something like this at one of my favorite stores - From our Home to Yours. It was so cute , mine didn't turn out quite like there's but I am happy with it - for now:) I am giving my snow men away - I keep looking at them and deciding I don't like them as much as I should. But my awesome husband came home with a scroll saw - he got some money to spend for Christmas and how sweet that he brought this home for me. I never thought I would be so excited about a power tool but I love this thing. This is my first craft made with this tool and I can't believe I did it all by myself!!

I made this earlier this year and then the weather got yucky so I sorta forgot I even had it - it was so easy .. and it's really fun to make a new block for the middle every month. I went to quilted bear and saw some just like this one and they were selling the square wreath for 20.00 - I made mine for less then 5 dollars- all you need is the wood: I think it was a 1X4 but you could really use any size, and some craft wire. And just paint and stain.

I finally did it!! It is going to take me a while to get it finished but I am excited. It was getting really confusing mixing the personal and craft stuff!! Hope you like my ideas:)
